Specific project objectives
- Valorization of minor local grape varieties and characterization of the genetic and metabolomic fingerprint;
- Expansion and improvement of viticultural biodiversity by finding new accessions;
- Evaluation of the intra-varietal variability of the main grape varieties of the territory and conservation of historical strains;
- Verification of the resilience to climate change of minor grape varieties grown in different soil and climate contexts and their enhancement aimed at preserving the typicality and sustainability of wine production;
- Evaluation of the oenological potential of Ervi cultivar for the development of new types of product with high added value;
- Verification of the protocols for production and drying of grapes in order to improve the quality and health of grapes destined to the production of dessert vin santo wines;
- Awareness raising of young students and unemployed people on issues related to viticultural biodiversity also through the collection of testimonies from winemakers on the impact of minor grape varieties on local agricultural systems.
